Today, 17th July, the Welsh Minister for Housing and Regeneration set out the planned timetable for implementation of the sprinkler legislation passed some time ago. As of April 2014, all new high-risk properties, which include care homes, student halls of residence, boarding houses and certain hostels must be fitted with sprinklers. From January 2016 all new houses and flats must be fitted with sprinklers. The detailed regulation to implement this decision is expected to be published in September 2013.
