Another fatal Italian care home fire and a sprinkler save in Norway
Italian media report that fire has killed another care home resident. Early on 14 August while residents were asleep a fire in the Casa di Arianna care home in Parma killed a 62-year-old resident and hospitalised 11 others. According to initial reports the fire started on the ground floor and smoke spread to the floors above.
Igneus AS, a Norwegian fire protection company, reports that a week earlier on 7 August in Kristiansand a fire that started in a sofa in an apartment was quickly controlled by a single sprinkler. The fire brigade was soon on the scene to complete extinguishment and help to dry up the water, which is less than would have been released by a fire hose. Damage was slight and nobody was hurt.
