Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has announced that it will fund the fitting of sprinklers in each of its five districts, in at least one building where people live. Priority will be given to those most at risk from fire. It will also fund the fitting of sprinklers in at least one high-rise block of flats in each district. Other high-rise blocks of flats are also expected to be fitting with sprinklers. The announcement comes in the lead-up to Sprinkler Week, which starts on 3rd February.
