The EFSN is a signatory to a letter to Theresa May calling on her to implement three straightforward measures to the fire safety measures in high-rise and high-risk buildings: sprinklers, non-combustible insulation and alternative escape routes. The full text of the letter is here. The first signatory is George Clarke, an architect who presents “Amazing Spaces”, a well-known television programme.
We find it extraordinary that almost a year after the Grenfell Tower fire, the government has yet to propose any changes to the fire safety measures in buildings. These three measures are easy to understand and verify; together they would dramatically improve fire safety.
