Uk Government requires sprinklers in care homes and allows CE-marking for construction products
Today Rushanara Ali, the new Minister for Building Safety and Homelessness, issued a written statement to announce among other things that sprinklers are to be required in care homes in England. The requirement will take effect from March 2025. Sprinklers have long been required in care homes in Scotland and Wales. The regulatory guidance has been revised to include this change.
In the same statement, the Minister wrote, ‚I can announce today that the Government will extend the period of recognition of CE-marking for construction products. The CE mark will continue to be available when placing construction products on the market across the UK.‘ She continued, ‚I can confirm that any subsequent changes to the recognition of CE marking would be subject to a minimum 2-year transitional period.‘
