Dutch media report that early on Saturday morning, 22nd August, a fire broke out in Madame Tussauds on the Dam in Amsterdam. The fire started in a rubbish container in a storage area on the fourth floor. Fortunately the museum was fitted with a sprinkler system in 2018. The sprinkler system quickly extinguished the fire and the museum was able to open the same day, only two hours later than usual. There was some smoke and water damage in the storage area but the display area was unaffected.
Clearly a fire in a waxworks museum could have caused much greater damage.
