Sprinklerfrämjandet, the Swedish Sprinkler Association, has published figures for the numbers of sprinklers sold in Sweden in 2014. The figures are compiled from data provided by the sprinkler manufacturers. They show that 2014 was a record year, with 564,332 sprinklers shipped. This represented an increase of 9%. Of these sprinklers, 36,400 were residential sprinklers, which was also a record. In 2014 Sweden installed 59 sprinklers per thousand people, which is the second highest rate of sprinkler usage in Europe. This is despite there being very few regulatory requirements to install sprinklers in Sweden. Fire safety in buildings is achieved by using fire engineering to produce conceptual designs. Sprinklerfrämjandet has focussed on the education of fire engineers, so that they use sprinklers in their designs.
